As we continue to expand and evolve, we are seeking a skilled Manager of Category to join our team and lead our category management strategy to drive business growth and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Position Overview:
The Manager of Category will oversee the management and strategic development of product categories and portfolio across Cannabis NB’s retail operations. This individual will be responsible for optimizing product assortments, driving category performance, and ensuring that our product offerings meet customer needs while aligning with business objectives. The Manager of Category will work closely with merchandising, marketing, and supply chain teams to create a unified strategy that maximizes profitability and enhances the customer journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Strategy Development: Lead the creation and execution of category management strategies, ensuring that product assortments are optimized for both profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer insights to identify category opportunities and challenges, using this information to develop actionable strategies.
  • Product Assortment & Merchandising: Ensure the right mix of products is available in-store and online to meet customer demand and maximize sales. Collaborate with merchandising teams to ensure product displays and promotions align with category goals.
  • Vendor Relationships & Negotiations: Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure optimal product availability, pricing, and promotional support. Negotiate contracts and terms to support category growth and profitability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment between category strategies, promotional plans, and inventory management.
  • Market and Consumer Insights: Stay informed on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to continuously improve category strategies and product offerings.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly track and report on category performance, making adjustments as needed to achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of category analysts and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environmen.

    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in category management, retail merchandising, or a similar role (experience in the cannabis industry is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of category management principles, product assortment strategies, and retail operations.
  • Data-driven with advanced analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex sales and market data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and influence decision-makers in a cross-functional environment.
  • Passion for the cannabis industry and a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in category management software, Excel, and other relevant tools.

    Working Conditions:
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Must be willing to travel to our locations across New Brunswick when needed for meetings and events; note that some events may take place after business day/weekends
  • Remote (Must be based in New Brunswick at time of employment)
